USA K1 Fiance Visa
The K1 Fiancé Visa, also known as the "fiancé(e) visa," is a
non-immigrant visa that allows the foreign fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen
to enter the United States for the purpose of getting married. Once
married, the foreign spouse can apply for adjustment of status to become
a lawful permanent resident.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the K1 Fiancé Visa from Pakistan, both the U.S. citizen petitioner and the foreign fiancé(e) must meet certain requirements:
- U.S. Citizen Petitioner:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Intends to marry the foreign fiancé(e) within 90 days of their arrival in the United States.
- Must meet the income requirements to demonstrate the ability to support the fiancé(e).
- Foreign Fiancé(e):
- Intends to marry the U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of arrival in the United States.
- Both parties must be legally free to marry (unmarried and any previous marriages must be legally terminated).
Application Process
- File Petition (I-129F):
- The U.S. citizen petitioner files Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
- USCIS Processing:
- USCIS reviews the petition and, if approved, forwards it to the National Visa Center (NVC).
- NVC Processing:
- The NVC forwards the case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Islamabad, Pakistan.
- Visa Application:
- The foreign fiancé(e) completes the DS-160 visa application and pays the visa application fee.
- Medical Examination:
- The foreign fiancé(e) undergoes a medical examination by an approved panel physician.
- Consular Interview:
- Attend a consular interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Islamabad.
- Visa Issuance:
- If approved, the K1 Fiancé Visa is issued, allowing the foreign fiancé(e) to travel to the United States.
- Marriage within 90 Days:
- The couple must marry within 90 days of the foreign fiancé(e)'s arrival in the United States.

Documents
For U.S. Citizen Petitioner
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship:
- Valid U.S. passport or a certified copy of the birth certificate.
- Evidence of Relationship:
- Photographs, correspondence, or other evidence demonstrating a bona fide relationship with the fiancé(e).
- Proof of Intent to Marry:
- A signed statement from both parties affirming the intention to marry within 90 days.
- Financial Documents:
- Recent tax returns, W-2s, or pay stubs to demonstrate the petitioner's ability to financially support the fiancé(e).
For Foreign Fiancé(e) from Pakistan
- Passport:
- A valid passport.
- Police Clearance Certificate:
- Obtain a police clearance certificate from the relevant authorities in Pakistan.
- Medical Examination:
- Undergo a medical examination by an approved panel physician.
- Proof of Relationship:
- Any evidence of the relationship, such as photographs, letters, or other relevant documents.
- Evidence of Intent to Marry:
- A signed statement expressing the intent to marry the U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of arrival.
